Zolmitriptan is a selective receptor agonist used for acute migraine treatment with or without aura. Marketed as Zomig, it is a synthetic indole derivative with good water solubility and oral bioavailability. Its active N-desmethyl metabolite contributes to efficacy. Reference standards for the Zolmitriptan API, pharmacopeial and non-pharmacopeial impurities and process-related impurities are used for quality control, in compliance with ICH guidelines and regulatory requirements.
